IBADAN MEGA VOICE CELEBRATES DR. IBRAHEEM ODUOLA LAWAL ON HISTORIC APPOINTMENT

 Ibadan Mega Voice, a prominent community organization, has extended warm congratulations to Dr. Ibraheem Oduola Lawal on his groundbreaking appointment as the first Ibadan indigene to serve as Provost of the Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan.


In a statement issued and signed by the President of Ibadan Mega Voice,  Aare Kola Olomide, the body described the appointment as a  remarkable achievement
 and a testament to Dr. Lawal's dedication, expertise, and commitment to advancing the field of forestry and education   "As an Associate Professor and renowned researcher, Dr. Lawal has made significant contributions to ethnopharmacology and medicinal plant research 

Aare Kola Olomide praised  Dr. Lawal's appointment submitting that "We are confident that his leadership will bring significant progress to the institution and positively impact our community."

Ibadan Mega Voice is a collection of Ibadan Indigenes in the communication business, print, electronic, online, public relations, Advertising, Theatre, Music, Publishing and other related fields 

IMV stated that Dr. Lawal's impressive academic background, including a Ph.D. in Ethnobotany from the University of Fort Hare, Alice, South Africa has prepared him for this esteemed role.

The Federal College of Forestry in Ibadan has a rich history that dates back to 1939 when forestry technical education first began in Nigeria with the establishment of the School of Forestry in Zaria . Later that same year, the school was relocated to Moor Plantation in Ibadan, and then finally to its current location at Forest Hill, Jericho, Ibadan in 1941  At that time, it was the only higher institution for forestry education in the African sub-region until the early sixties  Today, the college offers various academic programs, including ND and HND full-time and part-time programs in forestry and related disciplines ¹.

The group appreciated government of the day for considering an illustrious son of Ibadan worthy of the position of Provost for the first time in the 85 years old institution
