Timeline of Wizkid, Davido’s decade-long beef

Award-winning singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has again knocked his colleague and Afrobeat sensation, David Adeleke, known better as Davido, saying the artiste is “talentless’.

Wizkid’s comment followed a cryptic announcement of Davido’s upcoming single with YG Marley.

In an apparent shade, Wizkid took to his X page to allegedly downplay the single.

“P***y boys dropping mid again,” adding, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small! 🦅,” the Ojuelegba crooner wrote.

Enraged by the apparent shade, a fan accused Wizkid of chasing clout with his post.

“So if you no beef @davido your song won’t sell??,” a user identified as Andrew Mcknight tweeting from @CULTURALVOICE wrote.

Responding to Mcknight, Wizkid said he doesn’t beef “wack niggas”.

“I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent! 🦅,” Wizkid wrote:

However, Davido had yet to respond to the Wizkid’s posts.

Both Afrobeats stars alleged trade beef and social media face-off dates back to 2014, with the singers going for each other’s jugular.

In May 2024, the singers engaged in a war of words after Wizkid dissed Davido and record producer and singer, Michael Collins Ajereh, known better as Don Jazzy.

While Wizkid described the Mavin Records boss as an “influencer”, he shared a video of Davido on his knees, pleading and crying after a fan asked him (Wizkid) to release new music.

However, Davido hits back by describing Wizkid’s career as “dead”.

In January 2024, after Davido was featured on Kizz Daniel’s ‘Twe Twe’, the singer wrote on his X account, “We no dey do it will grow on you here,” which some fans interpreted as a swipe at Wizkid.

In December 2023, Davido and Wizkid partied at the ‘Even In The Day’ event in Lagos. After the party, Davido announced that Wizkid would be releasing a new project, the ‘S2’ EP after it had dropped.

Also in June 2023, Davido attributed the beef between him and Wizkid to fan bases, whom he claimed during an interview on Drinking Champs, are fuelling most of the issues pitching them together.

In March 2023, in a solidarity move, Wizkid posted Davido’s fourth album ‘Timeless’, suggesting that both artistes are on good terms.

Meanwhile, to commiserate with Davido over the loss of his son, Ifeanyi, in November 2022, Wizkid delayed the release of his fifth album ‘More Love, Less Ego’, a move many fans considered as the end of the beef.

In January 2023, Wizkid announced a joint tour with Davido. “After my ‘MLLE (More Love, Less Ego)’ tour!! Davido and I going on tour! save your coins! I no wan hear pim,” Wizkid wrote on his Instagram page.

In 2020, Wizkid snubbed Davido after he posted his album ‘Made In Lagos’ album, a move which attracted several reactions, with fans insisting that Wizkid’s action was deliberate since he acknowledged posts from other artistes.

In 2021, after winning a Grammy award alongside Damini Ogulu, known better as Burna Boy, Wizkid hinted that he may be dropping a collaboration ‘Ballon d’Or’. The fans claimed that the purported collaboration was a cryptic message that the Ojuelegba crooner had taken sides in the feud between Burna Boy and Davido.

In July 2014, Wizkid in a post on X after his show in New York and ahead of his London concert wrote, “I already killed NY!! London 26th Sept!! Manchester 28th Sept!!! Big surprise!! Still proper shows!! proper venues!!! #fuckboysuckadick!!,” in what was considered a diss at Davido who also recently held his concert.

But in an interview in 2016 with Olisa Dibua, Wizkid explained that the post was not referring to Davido, adding that it was about the bad sound system he experienced at a previous concert.

But Davido disagreed, insisting that Wizkid’s tweet was about him in a separate interview with the same Olisa Dibua.
