The Department of State Services has pledged it's support for all activities embarked upon by Ibadan Mega Voice in achieving a more peaceful and prosperous Nigerian state.
The Director of Security, Department of State Services, Oyo State Command, Mr Adeyinka Adelakun gave this pledge when members of badan Mega Voice (IMV), an association of media practitioners of Ibadan origin paid him a courtesy visit as part of activities marking their second-anniversary celebrations.
The DSS boss, Mr Adeyinka Adelakun assured iMV of his organization's readiness to partner with and support all activities of the association committed to promoting peace and tranquility in the country.
He expressed the respect his agency has for professional media practitioners for critical roles they play in nation building.
Mr. Adeyinka Adelakun, expressed his pleasure at welcoming members of IMV, emphasizing the significant role the media plays in informing the public.
He also highlighted the importance of collaborating with professional journalists, distinguishing them from unregulated social media users who often spread misinformation.
The DSS boss, Mr. Adelakun maintained
that the DSS advocates civility and utmost professionalism in all operations and disciplinary action are in place against officers who fail to uphold these standards.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria could achieve a more just society through such professional practices and meaningful collaborations.
Aare Kola Olomide, the President of IMV outlined the association's aim to collaborate with the DSS in fostering peace and unity in the country.
"We appreciate your efforts in securing the nation, as we set out with various activities to mark our second anniversary celebrations, we have come to extend our hand of friendship and collaboration with your agency, before, during and after the celebrations", Olomide submitted.
Olomide emphasized the media's critical role in bridging the gap between the public and security agencies.
Aare Olomide also underscored the necessity for neutrality in cases involving government officials and citizens.
On the IMV entourage were Madam Bukola Hazmat, Malam Olabamiji Moruf (Lawolesun), Abiodun Adewole (Double A and Oladapo Ibikunle.
