President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief (Barr) Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole
has expressed joy over the emergence of an Ibadan daughter, Iyabode Fadiora nee Alaga as the best PhD graduate in humanities based courses at the just concluded 75th Convocation of University of Ibadan .
Barrister Ajewole who received the graduand in his office said the CCII would continue to promote academic excellence.
“It is with great joy and happiness that I welcome our daughter, who has done us proud by emerging as the best PhD graduate in humanities based courses from the prestigious University of Ibadan. This is a rare feat that deserves commendation”
“This is one of the great accomplishments of Ibadan sons and daughters that the CCII under my leadership will continue to promote. It is a testament to the fact that the Ibadans are great achievers. Our forebearers did a lot for humanity especially the Yoruba race. They were very courageous people. We shall continue to sustain those legacies”,he submitted.
He urged other upcoming Ibadan youts to shun social vices by emulating the award recipient who had further confirmed the “Can do spirit ” of the Ibadans.
Barrister Ajewole also assured that the CCII Scholarship programmes would be strengthened to cater for more indigent but brilliant students of Ibadan in various tertiary institutions across the country.
” I call on all those who have been supporting the CCII in promoting academic excellence to continue to partner with us in this noble cause”,the CCII President added.
Also commenting at the brief ceremony was the Chairman of the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning committee, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola who lauded the award recipient for her academic performance.
Balogun Ojetola who rose from a meeting of his committee to call the attention of the CCII President to the Great feat recorded by a member of his committee said ” this is the type of positive things his committee plans to celebrate about Ibadan which is the largest city in black Africa ”
“Ibadan is a city of many firsts. We have a lot to showcase about our past and the present. Many sons and daughters of Ibadanland are doing well in their different chosen careers. They are scattered across the globe. We are fishing some of them out for celebration during the forthcoming Ibadan Festival, ” Balogun Ojetola revealed.
