The President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole has commiserated with victims of the explosion that rocked parts of Old Bodija area of Ibadan, praying that the city will never experience such again.

The explosion at Adeyi Avenue, Old Bodija which left lives lost and properties destroyed sent panic across Ibadan on Tuesday night.

The CCII President General described the explosion as unfortunate and the least expected in a new year, stating that the umbrella body of all Ibadan sons and daughters (CCII) empathizes with the victims in this grieving mood.

Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole implored the people of Ibadanland to be their brothers keepers in this trying moment as affected families need all the support they could get at this time.

He urged all the security agencies to get to the root of this matter and ensure that those found culpable for this disaster are brought to book.

Chief Ajewole called for calm among the people of Ibadan and allow the laws of the land to take charge of the situation.

“I strongly believe that the government of the day is on top of the situation. It will surely provide all the needed support for all the affected families. I therefore call on our people to let us remain steadfast in our prayers for this city, support for our leaders and continue to hope for the best even in the face of adversity”, he added.

The President General assured the people of Ibadan that the CCII would not relent in it’s effors to champion the good of it’s people at all times with effective collaboration with the government of the day and the Olubadan in Council.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the dead, utmost sympathy to those whose properties were destroyed and consolation to the shocked people of Ibadanland. Our faith in God should remain unshaken and our march towards greatness should be unstoppable”, Chief Ajewole submitted.
