President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief (Bar) Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole has enjoined all Nigerians to support government efforts in making life easier for inmates of Correctional centeres  across the country.

Barrister Ajewole made this call when he led members of the Executive Council of the CCII on a visit to Agodi Custodial  Centre

The CCII President General who lauded the on going efforts of the federal government to improve on the welfare of prison inmates said “individuals and corporate bodies must support the government in its efforts to make inmates of Correctional centeres to fit into the society after serving their jail terms”

“The motive behind sending people to prison is to rehabilitate them in such a way that they will be able to contribute to the growth and progress of the society after regaining their freedom”

“As I legal practitioner,  I align with all stakeholders in the temple of justice to support the renewed efforts of the federal government at decongesting the various Correctional facilities in the country”

“I listened to the Minister of Interior recently on his plans to decongest the prisons. It is commendable. A situation where a facility that is originally meant for 1000 inmates is now occupied by 2000 or more is not acceptable”,he submitted

Responding, Deputy Controller of Corrections, Abdul jelil Odunlami.  thanked the CCII for the visit and donation of items like clothes, detergents and medicine for the use of the inmates.

He pledged that his command will continue to maintain a cordial  relationship with the good people of Ibadanland.
